The Standing Committee of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption has decided to keep an eye on the smuggling case related to giant mobile phone distributor Nhat Cuong and the $1.64 billion Da Nang - Quang Ngai highway project.

Minister of Public Security General To Lam, who is also deputy head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, has lauded efforts of the Finance Ministry’s Party committee in the reclamation of assets in corrupt and economic cases.

 More than 123,000 inspections on corruption have been conducted in 2015, with about VND212trillion (US$9.57 billion) seized by investigators.

  Deputy Inspector General Le Thi Thuy and other Vietnamese officials have actively participated in the sixth session of the Conference of State Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) in Russia’s St. Petersburg. 

 Twenty nine cases of corruption involving more than VND27.5 billion (US$1.26 million) were discovered in the first six months of this year, the Government Inspectorate of Viet Nam (GIV) reported on Thursday.

 The National Steering Committee for Corruption Prevention and Combat has set up seven groups to scrutinise anti-corruption work at a number of ministries and localities from early June to late July this year.
