The UN of Vesak 2019 will be celebrated at the Tam Chuc Buddhism Culture Centre in Kim Bang district of northern Ha Nam province from May 12-14. Preparation work for the event is entering the final stage.
Workers are working restlessly.
The equipment for the main hall is being quickly installed.
Thuy Dinh, where the ceremony takes place, is being completed.
These are the efforts made by the Organizing Committee in the preparation for the 16th UN Day of Vesak.
The main theme of Vesak this year is “Buddhist Approach to Global Leadership and Shared Responsibilities for Sustainable Societies”.
It will be the third time the UN’s commemoration of Vesak is held in Vietnam.
Previously, it took place in Hanoi in 2008 and the northern province of Ninh Binh in 2014.
The UN Vesak 2019 celebration is an important external event, contributing to improving the role of Vietnamese Buddhism in international integration and affirming Vietnam's position and responsibility for UN activities in all fields.
