The 2019 version of the ASEAN Music Festival is scheduled to take place in the norther port city of Haiphong city from May 25-31.
According a statement released by the Performing Arts Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on May 22, the cultural event is being held with the aim of boosting mutual understanding and co-operation between Vietnam and regional neighbours.
The event provides a good platform for local artists to introduce the nation’s cultural values to an array of international friends.
Art troupes from seven countries are set to feature during the festival including from Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and the host nation, Vietnam.
Indeed, as host nation the country is sending four art troupes, including 100 artists who are to represent the northern, central, and southern regions at the festival.
The maximum time allocated for each performance is 45 minutes.
The five- member judging panel will be made up of two Vietnamese and three foreign judges.
