Athletes visit a booth at the Expo area of the 2019 Techcombank IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam, Asia Pacific Championship

Some of the first foreign and local athletes have undergone the competition procedures and the Expo area with 40 booths from 17 brands has been opened to serve the competitors.

The booths provide essential items for the athletes, from clothes to bikes, watches, food, and drinks. Particularly, there are two booths of non-governmental organizations Operation Smiles and Newborns that raise funds for children with cleft lip and cleft palate as well as babies with high risk of death.

Hoang Kim Anh Tu, co-founder of ride-hailing service Xedike who has joined the IRONMAN 70.3 Vietnam over the past five years, said he registered early and bought some necessary tools to have the best preparation for the competition.

Nguyen Le Quoc Anh, CEO of Techcombank, said while his bank sponsors this event, he is taking part in the event as an athlete to inspire other people to be healthier and better.

The participants will run 5 kilometers tomorrow morning to raise funds for Newborns. In the evening, the 2017 and 2018 IRONMAN World champion Patrick Lange will share his experience with the runners. The Sunrise Sprint triathlon and IRONKIDS event will take place on May 11. SGT
