Quang Hai and Hung Dung who played in SEA Games 30 are named among the list of candidates in contention to win the Vietnamese Golden Ball Award 2019. 

 

Most notably among the contenders, V-League 2019 champions Hanoi FC are the biggest contributors to the list with six candidates. The players from Hanoi FC include Do Hung Dung, Nguyen Thanh Chung, midfield maestro Nguyen Quang Hai, Pham Duc Huy, Do Duy Manh, and Nguyen Van Quyet.

Following Hanoi FC, local rivals Viettel FC have four candidates who have been nominated for the prestigious prize, including Bui Tien Dung, Nguyen Hoang Duc, national team captain Que Ngoc Hai, and Nguyen Trong Hoang.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai are also well represented on the list with three players in contention, including Nguyen Phong Hong Duy, Nguyen Van Toan, and Tran Minh Vuong.

In addition to domestic-based talent, three footballers who currently play abroad have also received nominations, including Doan Van Hau of Dutch side SC Heerenveen, goalkeeper Dang Van Lam of Thai team Muangthong United, and Nguyen Cong Phuong of Belgian side Sint-Truidense. 

Elsewhere, the other footballers included in the list are Ha Duc Chinh of SHB Danang FC, Tran Nguyen Manh of Song Lam Nghe An FC, naturalised forward Hoang Vu Samson of Quang Nam FC, and Nguyen Huu Tuan of HCM City FC. They are joined by Becamex Binh Duong FC’s Nguyen Anh Duc and Nguyen Tien Linh, in addition to Quang Ninh Coal FC’s Nguyen Hai Huy and Nghiem Xuan Tu.

The winner of the award will be decided by voters who are made up of people involved in football, including footballers from the women’s national team, futsal players, foreign players in the V-League, in addition to other notable male and female talents.

The awards gala is scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City on February 13. VOV
