Most expensive Vietnamese paintings at international auctions

Local artworks have left an impressive footprint in the international auction market, with an increasing number of Vietnamese pieces receiving bids at high prices. 

 Let’s take a look at the most valuable paintings by Vietnamese artists throughout years.

In April, an oil painting on canvas by Mai Trung Thu entitled Chân dung Madam Phương (Portrait of Mademoiselle Phuong) fetches a record price of more than HKD24.3 million at a Sotheby's Hong Kong Auction, representing the highest price ever paid for the piece. The artwork is measured at 135.5 x 80cm and was originally created back in 1930.
