Local designer Nguyen Minh Tuan has unveiled an image of the national costume that he has created for Thuy An to wear during Miss Intercontinental 2019, which is set to take place in Egypt from December 4.
After posting an image of the national costume online, Minh Tuan has so far received plenty of compliments with the public praising the overall quality of the design.
Many of the Vietnamese fans commenting on the post believe that the outfit, which featuring clouds, mountains, and a large eagle, will allow Thuy An to make a positive impression on both the pageant’s judging panel and people in attendance.
The unveiling of the national costume comes after Thuy An showcased a photo collection with a different style ahead of Miss Intercontinental 2019. She posted images of her wearing a black outfit designed by Le Thanh Hoa.
22-year-old Thuy An is from Kien Giang province, she stands at 1.68 metres tall and has measurements of 83-65-89.
She is currently a student at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH). She got her first taste of success in beauty competitions after winning the Miss Friendly title during the Miss HUTECH 2017 pageant.
Following this initial success, she gained more experience the following year as she went on to be awarded the second runner-up title during the 2018 version of Miss Vietnam.
The Miss Intercontinental pageant was first held back in 1973, with the contestant from the United States winning the crown. Since then the pageant has taken place on 47 occasions.
The pageant is one of the most prestigious global pageants, alongside Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss International. Most notably, Vietnamese entrant Le Au Ngan Anh finished among the Top 4 during last year’s version of Miss Intercontinental.
