Vuong Thi Huyen enjoyed a hat-trick of medals in the women's 45kg pool.

 

 

Huyen had no difficulty in topping the podium in the snatch event with a 76kg lift. In the clean and jerk event she lifted 92kg to claim her second gold of the competition. Her overall total of 168kg was enough to bag another gold to achieve three gold medals overall.

Vietnamese athlete Nguyen Thi Van won two silver medals in the women’s 71kg pool.

The four bronze medals went to Thach Kim Tuan in the men’s 61kg category, Khong My Phuong in the women’s 45kg category, Hoang Thi Duyen in the women’s 59kg category, and Nguyen Thi Van in the women’s 71kg category.

In the final medal table, Vietnam ranked fifth with nine medals, level with the delegation from Chinese Taipei.

China, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and Iran made up the top three.

The Asian Championships serves as a qualification event for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
