phi son named among standout players of current afc cup campaign hinh 0

During the current AFC Cup 2020 campaign Ho Chi Minh City FC are enjoying success as they lead Group F with four points following a 2-2 draw against Yangon United FC of Myanmar and a 3-2 win over Hougang United of Singapore.

Despite Cong Phuong and Amido Balde taking the plaudits after the pair’s five goal haul for the V.League 1 side, Phi Son has made an outstanding contribution for his team, according to the AFC.

“The acquisition and subsequent goals of Nguyen Cong Phuong may have grabbed the headlines where Ho Chi Minh City FC are concerned, but captain Tran Phi Son has been every bit equal to the forward.

After playing a part in the Vietnamese side’s maiden AFC Cup goal in the 2-2 draw against Yangon United, the winger truly came to light on Matchday Two,” the AFC noted.

The AFC article adds, “Phi Son’s pinpoint deliveries into the box served to create all three of Ho Chi Minh City’s goals in their 3-2 victory away to Singapore’s Hougang United as the V.League 1 club moved to the top of their group.

The 27-year-old now has more assists than any other player in the competition after two games, while he is also second in terms of chances created with 10.”

Ho Chi Minh City FC are scheduled to continue their AFC Cup 2020 campaign away to Lao Toyota FC of Laos on March 10 with the Thong Nhat Stadium hosting the return fixture on April 15.

Both matches are expected to offer opportunities for Phi Son to showcase his talents and put on more strong performances.

Others players listed as standout players according to the AFC are Ahmed Ersan of Al Faisaly FC, Stipe Plazibat of Hougang United FC, Isa Al Anezi of Manama FC, and OJ Porteria of Ceres Negros FC. VOV
