Vietnamese rapper Suboi will be representing the nation as she competes for the title of "Best Southeast Asia Act" at the MTV European Music Awards 2019, or the MTV EMA, which is scheduled to take place in Seville, Spain, on November 3.
Voting for the award begins from 5pm on October 1 and is set to close at 5:59am on November 3. More detailed information and updates about the MTV EMA 2019 can be found at mtvwe.com.
This year’s award show will be the first-time that Suboi has competed in the category.
Suboi, born Hang Lam Trang Anh in 1990 in the southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City, is renowned as one the country’s best rappers.
She founded the company Suboi Entertainment in 2012 and has released three albums during her career, including her 2010 debut “Walk”, followed by “Run” in 2014, and “EP 2.7” in 2017.
First established in 1994, the MTV EMA is an event organised by MTV and hosted by different European countries each year. Although the prize seeks to recognise outstanding talent from Europe, the MTV EMA has also branched out to global music and now presents awards to artists worldwide.
Indeed, since 2010 the EMA have awarded the “Best Southeast Asia Act” as a separate category.
Vietnamese artists My Tam, Son Tung M-TP, and Dong Nhi each won the category in 2013, 2015, and 2016, respectively. VOV
