The executive committee of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) made the decision on September 23 to cancel all local professional football leagues, including the V.League 1, which will have no champion and no relegation this year.
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnamese football tournaments were paused during the middle of the year, including the 13th round of the V.League 1, the 8th round of the V.League 2, and the quarter finals of the National Cup.
As a result, this season will have no champion for all of these football tournaments and no teams will be relegated.
The VFF and the organising board will base the list clubs to represent the nation at the AFC’s tournaments in 2022 on the results following the 12th round of the V-League 1 before reporting this to the Asian Football Federation (AFC).
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) decided to officially cancel the 2021 national football season after consulting with 27 local professional clubs in a virtual meeting on August 28.
