Leading culinary stars from around the world, including eight Michelin star chefs, will be taking part in the second edition of “Metropole Culinary Stars” at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi.

The culinary extravaganza, which follows last year’s highly successful inaugural event, will feature 18 internationally renowned chefs. These famous chefs will collaborate on a series of extraordinary meals at the 111-year-old hotel over eight days, from October 6-13.

Michelin-starred chefs participating in this year’s event include Jacques Pourcel – the 3-Michelin-star chef at Le Jardin des Sens in Montpellier, France; David Rathgeber – chef-owner of Michelin-starred L’Assiette, one of Paris’ most adored bistros; Hervé Rodriguez – chef-owner of Michelin-starred MaSa restaurant in Paris; and Jean-Baptiste Natali – the youngest chef in France to earn a Michelin star when he was 27.

Chef de Cuisine of Michelin-starred Bridges at Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, Raoul Meuwese, and Head chef of Michelin-starred Palmgarden in Dortmund, Germany, are also on the list of stars.

The event will also spotlight other top global culinary names, including private chef to Dutch celebrities René van Empelen, a former winner of MasterChef France Didier Corlou, a scion of a cheese-making family that’s been in the business since 1880 Patrice Marchand, and the maître-chocolatier of the world’s longest-established chocolatier Stéphane Bonnat.

The line-up of luminaries also embraces Alain Caron – author of 14 renowned cookbooks, Vanessa Huang – one of Asia’s top female chefs, Bruno Dinel – the Master Baker of France, and pastry master Fabrice Danniel.

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi’s Executive Chef Paul Smart and his culinary team, Aurélien Houguet, Nguyễn Thanh Vân and Raphael Kinimo, will also showcase their expertise during this event.

“Metropole Culinary Stars 2019 promises to be a truly remarkable event, as we bring together some of the world’s most celebrated chefs in a city whose culinary tradition is undisputed,” said William Haandrikman, the hotel’s general manager.

Over eight days, the event will include several unique dining experiences including a seven-course “Dinner to Remember from the Farm & the Sea” sourced with the freshest and finest ingredients from the fields and oceans on October 8; and the “Extravagant Cheese & Wine Evening with Artisanal Bread” featuring more than 30 selections of Les Frères Marchand cheese served with artisanal bread on October 9.

On October 10, it will be the "Trump-Kim Summit Four-Hands Dinner” – a special gastronomical journey with the two Metropole chefs who prepared the historic four-course menu.

On October 11, during the “Metropole Culinary Showdown Dinner”, four teams consisting of 12 chefs will go head-to-head in a 60-minute live cook-off, while guests will enjoy a four-course dinner menu before savouring creations prepared by the four teams.
