The 92-minute documentary reflects the difficulties that girls from various ethnic minority groups must face in society through the story of a 12-year-old H’Mong ethnic girl residing in the northern town of Sa Pa in Lao Cai Province.

Children of the Mist is set to participate in the international documentary film category alongside 13 other artworks from Ecuador, Bangladesh, Argentina, Georgia, Portugal, among others.

The 34th International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) will open with "Four Journeys" produced by Chinese director Louis Hothothot.

The festival will see the screening of 264 documentaries from over 80 countries worldwide.

Children of the Mist will be screened on November 19, 20, 22, 24, 25 and 28.

The IDFA represents the world's largest documentary film festival and has been held annually since 1988.
