Dong Xuan Market is among Hanoi’s most popular tourist sites attracting many local and foreign visitors.

However, customer numbers to the market have sharply fallen, even at its peak hours on 10 am-2 pm and 8 pm-10 pm due to fears of the coronavirus.

Traders sit waiting for customers.

Dong Xuan Market covers a total 6,500 square metres with hundreds of stalls of various kinds of goods. Cloth, children’s toys and household goods are some of the major products at the market.

Many traders wear masks.

A trader said that customer numbers had dropped by up to 90%.

The market management board informed traders and customers of the virus prevention measures twice per day.
