The 13th National Party Congress is expected to be wrapped up in Hanoi today, February 1, one day ahead of schedule.
During the eight-day working, the Congress elected 180 official members and 20 alternate members to the 13th Party Central Committee.
Of the above official members, 119 are official members and alternate members of the 12th Party Central Committee while 61 others are newly elected.
The congress adopted a number of important documents, including a report on national socio-economic development orientations for 2021-2025, a report on guidelines for the 2020-2030 national socio-economic development strategy, and a report on the Party building work.
The 13th Party Central Committee convened its first plenum on January 31 to elect members of the Political Bureau, Party General Secretary, members of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, members of the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission and Head of the Commission.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was re-elected for the third consecutive terms.
The new Political Bureaucomprises ten newcomers and eight returning members.
The Inspection Commission has 19 members and Mr. Nguyen Cam Tu was re-elected as Chairman of the Commission.
