According to National Assembly Office Chairman and National Assembly Secretary General Bui Van Cuong, there are 868 people running for election of 500 deputies of the 15th National Assembly.

Regarding the structure of candidates, Cuong said there are 393 female candidates, accounting for 45.28%, an increase of 6.31% compared to the previous term.

There are 185 candidates who are ethnic, accounting for 21.31%, down 2.14% from the previous term.

Candidates who are non-Party members number 74, accounting for 8.53%, down 2.62%.

Regarding professional qualifications, Cuong said there are 564 candidates with postgraduate diploma, accounting for 64.98%; 294 people with university degree, accounting for 33.87%; and 10 people with beyond-university degree, accounting for 1.15%.

Most candidates meet the requirements of foreign language and computer skills.

Of the 868 candidates, 205 candidates are incumbent National Assembly deputies, accounting for 23.62%, an increase of 4.31% compared to the previous term.

There are 224 people under 40 years old, accounting for 25.81%, down 4.99%.

Cuong said the average age of 868 candidates is 46 years old. The oldest is 77 years old and the youngest is 24.

Candidates from central agencies number 203 people, including 11 people from Party agencies (5.42%); five from State Presidential agencies and judiciary agencies (2.46%); 129 people from National Assembly agencies (63.55%); and 15 from government agencies (including the Minister of Defense and Minister of Public Security) (7.39%).

Candidates from the military agencies are 12 people, accounting for 5.91%. There are two candidates from the police forces (0.99%); and one from the State Audit of Vietnam Agency (0.49%).

The Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations have 28 candidates, accounting for 13.79%.

 

 

There are 9 self-nominated candidates.

Hanoi has three self-nominated candidates, including: Mr. Hoang Van Cuong, Vice Rector of the National Economics University; Mr. Luong The Huy, Director of Institute for Society, Economy and Environment Studies; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tri, President of the Vietnam Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

Ho Chi Minh City has two self-nominated candidates: Ms. Ung Thi Xuan Huong, Deputy Head of Research and Training Department, Vietnam Lawyers’ Association; Mr. Truong Trong Nghia, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association.

Other self-nominated candidates include: Mr. Nguyen Thien Thuc, Executive Director of Thanh Phuc Vocational Training Center from the Mekong Delta City of Can Tho; Mr. Nguyen Kim Hung, Acting Director of Vietnam Institute of Business Administration Science and Digital Economy, from Bac Kan province; Ms. Khuong Thi Mai, CEO of Namsung Aluminum Vietnam Co., Ltd, from Nam Dinh province; and Mr. Tran Khac Tam, deputy of 13th National Assembly, Chairman of Soc Trang Enterprise Association, from Soc Trang province.
