During a meeting with RoK PM Lee Nak-yeon in Seoul on November 28, PM Phuc congratulated the RoK on successfully holding the 30th ASEAN – RoK Commemorative Summit and the first Mekong – RoK Summit.

The Vietnamese PM wished that the RoK would continue assisting Vietnam in bomb and mine clearance, as well as dealing with the war consequences. He asked the RoK side to early complete the risk analysis process to open the market for Vietnamese farm produce, towards the goal of 100 billion USD in two-way trade.

He suggested encouraging Korean firms to transfer technology and engage in Vietnam’s key energy and infrastructure projects, and sharing experience in information technology such as 5G network, e-government development, online public services, and enterprise architecture management.

The PM also called on the RoK to consider relaxing and finally removing some conditions for loans from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund.

The leader expressed his wish that the Korean government, people and mass organisations would continue helping the Vietnamese community in the RoK, especially Vietnam – RoK multicultural families, to stabilise their lives, contributing to local socio-economic development and reinforcing friendship between the two countries’ people.

The guest also proposed that the Korean government consider issuing favourable visa policy for Vietnamese people to boost tourism and people-to-people exchange.

PM Lee, for his part, affirmed the RoK’s policy of extending cooperation with Vietnam, and vowed to further enhance bilateral ties in a wide range of areas.

The RoK will take measures to protect legitimate rights and interests of children of Vietnam – RoK multicultural families, help them to inherit the cultures and languages of both nations and make it easier for them to become global citizens, he said.

He added that the RoK will coordinate with Vietnam so that the latter will play well the role of a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020 – 2021 tenure and ASEAN Chair 2020.

Host and guest promised to effectively make use of existing cooperation and dialogue mechanisms, expand people-to-people exchange, and work closely together on regional and global issues.

On regional and global situation, the two PMs shared the awareness about the significance of maintaining peace, stability, respect for law in the region, and of settling disputes by peaceful means and dialogues in line with international law.

In the afternoon the same day, PM Phuc and his entourage left Seoul, concluding their trip to the RoK to attend the ASEAN-RoK Commemorative Summit and the first Mekong-RoK Summit and for an official visit to the RoK./.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc (L) meets with Speaker of the Republic of Korea’s National Assembly Moon Hee-sang on November 28

 

 

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc met on November 28 with Speaker of the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s National Assembly Moon Hee-sang, who said the parliament has high consensus on the continued enhancement of all-round relations with Vietnam.

Moon welcomed the Vietnamese PM’s official visit to the RoK, describing the trip as a vivid demonstration of the thriving strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Both host and guest expressed their delight at the strong and fruitful growth of bilateral ties, which they said have turned their countries into members of a family and leading partners of each other.

The RoK parliament speaker said on the basis of the achievements obtained so far, the two countries should keep strengthening mutual trust and understanding, and further cooperate to develop their strategic cooperative partnership more extensively and practically in all spheres, including politics, diplomacy, security, defence, economy, trade, investment, science, education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchange, as well as in regional and international issues.

At the meeting, PM Phuc lauded the sound cooperation between the Vietnamese and RoK parliaments.

He highly valued the support that the RoK’s National Assembly and parliamentarians, including the speaker and the RoK-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, have given to Vietnam and the two nations’ relations.

He voiced his hope that they will continue supporting the countries’ governments, businesses and people to expand cooperation.

The PM also asked the RoK parliament to further assist, through laws and policies, the Vietnamese community, especially Vietnamese-RoK families, in the country in accessing development chances and integrating into the local society.

Moon also noted with satisfaction the increasingly closer collaboration between the two parliaments. He expressed his wish to further intensify relations between the legislatures, their agencies and parliamentarians, and better bring into play the role of parliamentary friendship groups in each country.

The RoK parliament has high consensus on the continuation of reinforcing ties with Vietnam in all fields, he noted, adding that it will have more practical measures to support the Vietnamese community in the country./.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a meeting with Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon on November 28 as part of his official visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK).

PM Phuc said relations between Vietnam and the RoK are flourishing under their strategic cooperative partnership with rapidly growing economic, trade and investment ties, along with strong people-to-people exchange. Besides, fruitful locality-to-locality connections have become leverage for the two countries’ cooperation.

Particularly, he highly valued Seoul’s twinning relations with Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, stressing that its experiences in urban management, people’s welfare and high technology application are very useful to the Vietnamese cities.

On this occasion, the leader appreciated the Seoul administration and the mayor’s support for the Vietnamese people in their city.

Vietnam has also continually created favourable conditions for the Korean community in the country, he affirmed, expressing his hope that businesses of the RoK, including those from Seoul, will keep investing and expanding operations in Vietnam.

For his part, Mayor Park spoke highly of the strong socio-economic development of Vietnam, saying the country boasts huge development potential and numerous opportunities for the RoK to continue increasing cooperation with and investment in.

The official noted Seoul has had cooperative ties with many cities around the world, but it attaches special attention to the ties with Vietnamese localities.

He pledged to further support the 17,000 Vietnamese people in Seoul, thereby contributing to the two countries’ friendship and cooperation./.VNA
