The Foreign Ministry’s spokeswoman Le Thi Thu Hang

Hang made the statement at a regular press conference in Hanoi on September 12 while responding to reporters’ queries regarding the CPJ’s report that included Vietnam in the list of ten most censored countries.

“In Vietnam, the freedom of speech in general and the freedom of the press in particular are prescribed specifically in the 2013 Constitution and many relevant legal documents,” she affirmed.

The country is making efforts to perfect its legal system in order to ensure the freedom of speech on the media, cyber space and other forms, while protecting people from news that is fake, not suitable to Vietnamese habits and customs, biased and inaccurate, and stirs up hatred, Hang added./. VNA
