Forest rangers discovered the dead bull, weighing around 700-900 kilogrammes, while patrolling the reserve on the day.

Full investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding his death.

Since 2016, three individuals of this kind were found dead in the reserve, two of which died of old age and collision with transport vehicle.

Gaurs is native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It has been listed as ‘Vulnerable’ on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List since 1986. In 2006, they were listed in Vietnam’s Red List as a rare wildlife species, meaning any gaur poaching or trading activity was banned.

The Dong Nai Culture and Nature Reserve is now home to five herds of guar, each having 40-50 head.-VNA
