On Tuesday, a forest fire occurred at the foot of Minh Dam Mountain in Phuoc Hai Town, Dat Do District, destroying 1.5ha of forest.

Earlier last Saturday, a fire also occurred in Suoi Tien area of Long Hai Town, Long Dien District and was extinguished.

However, on Sunday, the fire broke out again in an adjacent area, lasting to Monday until firefighters controlled it at 11pm.

Firefighters said the blaze on the mountain caused many difficulties for them in moving and bringing water to extinguish the fire.

On Tuesday, the firefighters checked smoldering fire spots in caves to prevent the possibility of new blazes.

According to preliminary statistics, fires in Suoi Tien area in the past few days have damaged about 60ha of forest.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting forecasts the heat in the south and central region would last throughout this week with temperatures ranging from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius, even 39 degrees in some places.
