As many as 117 Vietnamese people had been detained in Ha Giang Province for illegally crossing the China-Vietnam border.

All 117 people were caught from December 3 to 5 by the border guards at Xin Cai Border Gate. On December 5, the guards of the Covid-19 checkpoint at Xin Cai Border Gate detected and caught 60 people who were illegally crossing the border in Meo Vac and Dong Van districts.

On December 3 and 4, they also caught 57 illegal border crossers. According to the statements, all of them are Vietnamese from various provinces and cities. They illegally crossed the border to China to find jobs in late 2019 and early 2020. However, because of unemployment, they wanted to return to Vietnam.

The guards at Xin Cai Border Gate and Dong Van Border Gate have started the necessary procedures including checking the body temperature, disinfecting the area and transferring the violators to suitable quarantine centres in Dong Van and Meo Vac districts. VOV
