Police in HCM City has detained a man who was suspected of killing his three family members while under the influence of drugs.
The victims were murdered at their home on Chien Luoc Street, Binh Tan District
Police in HCM City confirmed on May 3 that the victims were murdered at their home on Chien Luoc Street, Binh Tan District on the evening of May 2. The police also detained the suspect, Truong Tin, born in 1990.
The three victims were Tin's grandmother, Le Thi Dieu, 77, his mother, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thuy, 56, and his aunt, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Kieu, 54.
Initial investigations revealed that Tin had unusual behaviour when he returned home on May 2 so his family hid away all sharp objects in the house including knives and scissors. But he still found a knife and killed three people immediately. His father and two other family members hid inside a wardrobe and survived.
Tin attempted to find and kill other family members afterwards. He was arrested on the early morning of May 3 while going to meet a friend in Tan Phu District. He showed signs of being under the influence of drugs.
The case is under investigation.
