From the Tet holiday, the department has coordinated with the departments of Industry and Trade of the two provinces to boost the consumption of agricultural products from localities, especially the northern province of Hai Duong, Acting Director of the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Tran Thi Phuong Lan has said.

About 66 retailers in Hanoi will sell 300 tons of vegetables and fruits from Hai Duong province in their distribution systems in the city and nationwide.

Nguyen Thai Dung, General Director of Hanoi-based BRG Retail, said the company and Hai Duong’s suppliers will sell a total weekly volume of 20-30 tons of agricultural and aquatic products at Fuji Mart, Hapro Mart, Intimex and Seika Mark retail systems, equivalent to the amount of goods sold in the New Year's Eve, from February 23.

Meanwhile, ten stores of Co.opmart supermarket chains will sell agro-produces from the pandemic-hit areas, including Hai Duong province, since February 22, according to Director of Co.opmart Ha Dong Nguyen Thi Kim Dung.

“The items are required to meet our quality and origin standards for sales,” Dung said.

Central Group and Big C have actively purchased agricultural products and foodstuffs from farmers in the pandemic-hit regions to distribute in their retail systems.

In order to support Hai Duong province to sell agricultural products, the city’s retailers have recommended that provinces and cities surrounding Hanoi should create favorable conditions for the trucks, which have met safety requirements, to pass the quarantine checkpoints or set up transshipment hubs for goods from Hai Duong province to be shipped to other provinces and cities, including Hanoi.
