HCM City plans to relocate up to around 44,000 households for the implementation of 500 projects from now until 2025.

Between 2019 and 2020, the city has intended to carry out 301 key projects, which would affect roughly 19,100 local households.

During the 2021 and 2025, 226 projects are expected to be conducted, so 24,900 households would need to be relocated.

According to the municipal people’s committee, the resettlement for the households has to be carefully considered to ensure their living conditions in the long term. The affected people need to be supported
with vocational training so that they can seek jobs.

It is also important to build infrastructure for the resettlement areas.

Authorities of the city’s districts have been instructed to find land for the resettlement.

The city will also focus on building more houses for low-income earners, including those who will be relocated for the projects. Around 20,000 apartments of this kind are expected to be constructed. Dtinews
