Vo Thi Sat, 80, came to Le Van Thinh Hospital very early in the morning. She was waiting for her turn to have her health examined before injection.

“I am glad and a bit anxious. Will I get vaccinated with my long lasting underlying health conditions? I hope I get vaccinated so that I can no longer feel worried about the pandemic,” she said.

Nguyen Thi Phuong, born in 1965, appeared calmer. She came to the hospital at 9 am and had been waiting for half an hour. But she did not feel tired. She was willing to let older people get vaccinated before her.

“I had my health examined at my ward’s medical unit which also organized immunization. However, as I have cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure, I have been told to go to hospital to get vaccinated to ensure safety,” she told VietNamNet.

“Since the latest pandemic wave broke out, I have been staying at home all the time. If I get vaccinated, I will feel more secure,” she said.

The vaccination campaign has been well organized, so older people do not feel tired as they wait for their turn. They have seats with reasonable distance from each other in accordance with pandemic prevention regulations.

Only when their names were called will they come up to the area where they have samples taken for rapid testing. After that, they stay in the waiting room.

According to Tran Quang Chau from the hospital, to ensure safety, all older people will have rapid Covid-19 test.

If the test is positive, they will be taken to a specific room for a more accurate PCR test and further medical treatment steps. After that, people will have a thorough screening examination before getting vaccinated. After the infection, they will stay in the hospital for supervision for at least 30 minutes.

Many older men and women there expressed concern as they wonder if their health conditions are good enough to get vaccinated. They all read the guidelines for vaccination very carefully and bring their medical records.

An older man, who asked to be anonymous, showed his clinical record, saying that he has suffered from diabetes for 20 years.

Their worries have been lifted as they were carefully examined by doctors. Nguyen Hong Chau, 80, told reporters that she was injected 20 minutes earlier and she felt well.
