Ensuring information security at sea and islands plays a particularly important role in information security and national information security, through which directly contributing to improve the efficiency of management and protection of sovereignty, sovereignty right, national jurisdiction on islands and national sovereignty on cyberspace. In the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, ensuring information security on the sea and islands in particular, and national information security in general is an important premise and factor for the sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy.

Based on the practical situation of information and propaganda activities on the sea and islands of Vietnam and abroad, Commander of the Coast Guard, Lieutenant General, PhD. Nguyen Van Son noted in a recent analysis: We need to further strengthen the propaganda, dissemination and education of the law in association with the propaganda on information security and safety for the subjects (domestic and foreign) operating at sea. Raising awareness about the role of information security at sea and islands in the cause of national construction and protection as well as in search and rescue works, protection of the marine environment and implementation of international and humanitarian missions.

Propaganda work should be carried out in many diversified forms, suitable to the reality, qualifications and awareness of the subjects of propaganda. At the same time, it is necessary to build trust and consensus in society for the Party's views and guidlines, State policies and laws on information security and sea and island sovereignty, resolutely defeating the hostile forces' conspiracies and intentions to take advantage of sea and island issues through the Internet environment to propagate, distort or incite the masses to destroy our Party and State.

In order to achieve the set objectives and requirements, the contents of propaganda, dissemination and education of law need to be easy to understand, easy to remember and suitable to the target audience; focus on the most basic and "popularized" knowledge, including: legal documents on information security, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982, the Law of the Sea of Vietnam; regulations on the functions and duties of forces in ensuring information security on the sea and islands, ... Through propaganda, dissemination and education of law to create national confidence and pride, raising awareness and creating a strong change in action, actively participating with local authorities and relevant forces to well perform the task of ensuring security and safety at sea and islands, making an important contribution to ensuring information security in Vietnam.

The strong development of science and technology, the diversified and complex information activities on the sea and islands and the explosive and rapid development of the Internet have shown that the task of ensuring information security in general , security and safety of information on sea and islands in particular are increasingly urgent, serious and complex. The Party and State have had many policies and measures to develop and ensure information security and safety. However, to meet the current needs, we still face many difficulties and challenges.

Therefore, in the context of a complicated situation in the East Sea, Lieutenant General, PhD. Nguyen Van Son emphasized that there should be the participation and effort of the entire political system, in which the ministries, branches and specialized forces performing the task of ensuring information security and safety play a pivotal role.

“Relevant ministries, branches, localities and functional forces need to proactively overcome difficulties, resolutely persevere, take responsibility, and endeavor to well fulfill their assigned tasks in order to ensure information security on the sea and islands, contributing to firmly protecting the sovereignty of sea, islands and national sovereignty in cyberspace of Vietnam, closely associated with economic development and national construction,” Lieutenant General, PhD.
