The police in Tan Binh District, HCM City, is working with the security at Tan Son Nhat Airport to investigate the case. At 7 pm on January 2, the police and airport security had inspected the belongings of the flight attendant when she landed in HCM City from Danang.

The police found 130 Marlboro cigarette packets and 48 massage oil bottles which worth over VND200m (USD8,600).

The smuggled products are suspected to have been brought from Japan to Danang before landing in HCM City. Tan Binh police are expanding the investigation.

Vietnam Airlines issued an official announcement, saying that the flight attendant was not working when she was inspected by the police. The carrier has worked with the authorities to clarify the case and ensure the rights of the employee. The flight attendant has returned to her home.

Vietnam Airlines confirmed that it would not cover up violations by employees or avoid their responsibilities.
