Update news special consumption tax
Vietnam’s automobile industry is small compared to regional markets and local suppliers are asking for more support from the Government.
VietNamNet Bridge – The Government plans to increase special consumption tax on luxury passenger cars by up to 150%, according to a proposal recently passed to the National Assembly (NA).
VietNamNet Bridge – While the Ministry of Finance wants the highest special consumption tax rate imposed on autos, at 75% of a car’s value, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is pushing for a maximum of 150%.
VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Industry and Trade has proposed reducing special consumption tax, import tariffs and fees for completely built-up (CBU) automobiles and auto parts in 2015-2018,
VietNamNet Bridge – The Government is planning to increase the special consumption tax imposed on tobacco products to raise income for the state budget and reduce the number of smokers.
