Before leaving the central city of Da Nang yesterday for the northern city of Ha Long on his $150 million super-yacht Aviva, British billionaire Joe Lewis sent a letter to city’s Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, expressing the idea of building the marina in the Han River.
Chairman Tho affirmed to support the idea and will choose a good place for constructing the international standard marina.
After taking a walk on the Golden Bridge, a 150-metre-long pedestrian bridge in Ba Na Hill resort, with his niece Carolyn Carter, who is Miss US Virgin in 2016, owner of the English football club Tottenham Hotspurs Joe Lewis sent his thank-you to Chairman Tho for warm hospitality during his visit to the city.
According to his assistant, he was attracted by news of the Golden Bridge which has been published in the media worldwide; therefore, he decided to dock at Tien Sa port in the central city of Da Nang before heading to another place.
While docking at the port, he invited Chairman Huynh Duc Tho on board.
The billionaire wrote in the letter; “As we discussed yesterday, I would like to express my interest in working together towards a marina construction idea somewhere in Han River. This might be the first marina in Vietnam with international standards to attract and facilitate many yachts and boat arrivals in the future to Da Nang”.
Aviva’s next destinations will be Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam and Ha Long in the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh. The two cities respectively house UNESCO-recognised world cultural heritage site Hoi An ancient town and world heritage site of Ha Long Bay.
Widely known as the owner of the English professional football club Tottenham Hotspur, Joe Lewis’s wealth is estimated at $5.2 billion. SGGP
