Dong Thap People’s Committee Vice Chairman Huynh Minh Tuan speaking at a press conference this morning, April 25, said that the festival was intended to honour the economic and cultural value of the lotus flower and its relationship with the development of tourism in the province.

The event will be held on May 16-19 in Cao Lanh City.

Around 30 activities will be held during the festival, including an international forum on the lotus, an exhibition on the lotus products, a food street featuring lotus dishes, and tours to visit lotus flowers in Dong Thap. Around 5,500 local women will join a traditional Ao Dai performance on a lotus theme.

The first lotus exports to Japan will be celebrated at the festival.

Tuan expected the event would boost the lotus-based economic development and open more partnership opportunities inside and outside the country.

Dong Thap held the first lotus festival in May 2022, featuring around 200 dishes made from lotus.
