Le Hoai Quoc (4th L), chairman of the HCMC Automation Association, speaks at the press conference on October 22. Even though Vietnam's studies and projects are on par with those of Thailand, Malaysia and South Korea, the country's development and application of these projects have brought up the rear |
Speaking at a press briefing to introduce Automation Day 2019 on October 22, Quoc said that many other speakers who have attended the world’s major conferences and forums on automation appreciated Vietnam’s research and projects in the automation sector.
Quoc pointed out that even though these studies and projects are on par with those of Thailand, Malaysia and South Korea, Vietnam’s development and application of these projects have brought up the rear.
“We have no domestic firms capable of investing and turning these projects into commercial products to serve the market,” Quoc said.
Automation products manufactured in Vietnam mainly serve domestic enterprises, he added.
Most local enterprises active in the automation sector are only supplying integrated solutions, Quoc remarked, adding that some have provided these integrated solutions to several major brands in the global market.
For the fourth industrial revolution, it is necessary to further develop the automation sector to keep pace with the global trend. Therefore, local firms active in the sector are seeking opportunities to boost the growth of the automation sector in Vietnam.
The HCMC Automation Association has also launched a wide range of programs to support its members in gaining further ground in the sector, Quoc said. The association has to date signed multiple cooperation agreements with South Korea’s automation organizations.
Organized by the HCMC Automation Association, Automation Day 2019 is scheduled to take place at Cao Thang College in HCMC on October 26, featuring 28 booths showcasing various automation equipment and technology.
The event is expected to bring together speakers, experts and researchers to share their experience in the automation field.
Automation Day 2019, themed “Strengthening connectivity to develop human resources and automation technology in the context of Industry 4.0,” will give firms the chance to network and explore cooperation opportunities. SGT
