Information regarding the delay was announced in a statement by the tournament’s organisers on March 15 following the conclusion of the second round of fixtures.

The Vietnam Professional Football Company also announced that organisers will keep updated with the latest COVID-19 developments as they look to put in place a fresh schedule.

The decision was made due to the increasingly complicated nature of developments surrounding the COVID-19 epidemic amid fears of creating unsafe conditions for footballers and other participants.

In addition, organisers have requested that football clubs move to check the health of all of the league’s players, whilst also carrying out further measures in a bid to prevent and control the spread of the COVID-19.

As a result, all football tournaments nationwide have been postponed until the end of March, with the 2020 Vietnamese National Football First League, more commonly known as the V.League 2, also being pushed back.

The LS V.League 1 has become the latest national football league in Southeast Asia to be postponed due to fears surrounding the COVID-19 after a similar situation emerged in Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia.

As of March 15, there have been 57 positive cases of the COVID-19 confirmed in the country, with 16 of them going on to make a full recovery. VOV
