The VFF proposed allowing about 20,000 football fans to attend the games between Vietnam and Japan and Saudi Arabia. The football federation believed that the support of the audience will give the national team more strength.

That is the result of a meeting of representatives of the VFF, the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hanoi People's Committee on October 20.

The meeting focused on the preparation for matches of the Vietnamese football team in the third qualifying round of the FIFA World Cup 2022, including two matches at home against Japan (November 11) and Saudi Arabia (November 16).

One issue is whether My Dinh Stadium will be open to the audience. However, this question has no final answer yet.

A VFF official said the Government’s direction is bringing social activities back to a new normal state. Hanoi is also listed as a safe area, at level 1 in terms of epidemics. However, the Hanoi People's Committee has not yet officially approved the opening of My Dinh stadium for audiences.

The VFF is impatient because it has to report to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) very soon and needs time to prepare measures on Covid-19 epidemic prevention since this task takes a lot of time and requires the coordination of many agencies.
