Among the players, Quang Hai is the only Vietnamese representative to make the cut with the Hanoi FC player finishing the voting on eight points, ranking 17th overall.

Following a strong year, the Vietnamese midfielder successfully finished above the likes of Australia’s Matthew Ryan, Ali Mabkhout of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Yuto Nagatomo of Japan, and Mohanad Ali of Iraq.

Topping the list with 258 points was Tottenham’s Son Heung-min of the Republic of Korea, a huge lead over second-place Akram Afif of Qatar on 144 points, with Liverpool’s recent signing Takumi Minamino in third position with 90 points.

Quang Hai is currently with his Vietnamese teammates in Thailand as the team prepare for the AFC U23 Championship 2020 finals which are set to take place between January 8 and 26.

Vietnam will play their first match of the competition against the UAE on January 10 at the Buriram Stadium in Buriram province, Thailand, followed by a clash against Jordan in the same stadium three days later. VOV
