Among the defenders chosen in the ASEAN team, Vietnamese pair Ngoc Hai and Van Hau have both been chosen.
Vietnamese captain Ngoc Hai earns his place among the team after leading the Golden Dragons through a solid season of international football. Some the year’s notable landmarks include reaching the quarterfinals of the Asian Cup and topping their World Cup Qualification group with three matches left, according to Foxsports Asia.
Upon discussing the impact of SC Heerenveen’s left back Van Hau, the sports website states, “At international level Van Hau has operated as a left-back in Park Hang-seo’s 5-4-1 formation, playing a starring role in the Asian Cup as well as in the country’s World Cup Qualifiers.”
Moving further up the pitch, 2019 has seen midfielder Hung Dung emerge as a star of ASEAN football. Foxsports Asia notes, “The 26-year-old Hanoi FC man has established himself at the heart of Vietnam’s midfield in 2019 and has become a permanent fixture in Park Hang-seo’s squad during the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.”
Speaking about Hung Dung’s Hanoi FC teammate Quang Hai, the sports website declares the forward to be a Vietnamese superstar. Foxsports Asia writes, “Nguyen Quang Hai once again took Vietnam under his wings in 2019, guiding them to the quarterfinals of the AFC Asian Cup 2019 and also helping them top their World Cup Qualifiers group.”
Elsewhere in the best ASEAN line-up, Siwarak Tedsungnoen of Thailand is placed in goal.
Fox Sports Asia has chosen a three-man defence of Que Ngoc Hai of Vietnam, Doan Van Hau of Vietnam, and Theerathon Bunmathan of Thailand.
The team’s midfielders include Stephan Schrock of the Philippines, Hlaing Bo Bo of Myanmar, Do Hung Dung of Vietnam, and Chanathip Songkrasin of Thailand.
The forwards selected are Nguyen Quang Hai of Vietnam, Safawi Rasid of Malaysia, and Ikhsan Fandi of Singapore. VOV
