Three months after launching the design contest, the Top 3 national costume entries for Hoang Thuy’s outfit at the Miss Universe 2019 beauty contest have been unveiled.

“Con Co”, by designer Nguyen Duc Liem, “Vung Dat Chin Rong” by designer Hoang Huu Kha, and “Ca Phe Phin Sua Da”, by designer Tran Nguyen Minh Duc (left to right) have been named among the competition’s Top 3 designs.

“Ca Phe Phin Sua Da”, also known as iced milk coffee, by designer Tran Nguyen Minh Duc puts the nation’s coffee drinking culture on display in a single outfit.

One of the most notable aspects of “Con Co” known as crane by designer Nguyen Duc Liem is how reminiscent the outfit is of the spirit of rural Vietnam.

“Vung Dat Chin Rong” (the Land of Nine Dragons) by designer Hoang Huu Kha has impressed viewers due to the nine dragon heads protruding from the back of the design.

During the earlier stages of the competition, the Top 18 outfits had been presented to the judging panel before a decision was made on the contest’s final three entries.

The Top 18 designs covering 13 entries are directly chosen by the judges, with an additional five entries being voted on by fans.

The competition’s judging panel is made up of Miss Universe 2017 H’Hen Nie, along with designers Thuan Viet, Linh San, Ngo Manh Dong Dong, Nguyen Minh Tuan, and Nguyen Minh Cong.

The designers of the Top 3 outfits will complete their national costumes ahead of the final round in order to decide which outfit Hoang Thuy will wear at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant, slated for this year.
