Director of the Da Nang Education and Training Department Le Thi Bich Thuan said students are still studying online and via TV.

Some days ago, the city planned to allow first, ninth and 12th graders to return to school from November 1, and allow all students from November 8. However, it decided to delay the plan to November 15.

“It’s expected that high school students will get vaccinations first, and then students at lower education levels,” Thuan said.

According to Ly Thanh Tam, Director of Binh Phuoc Education and Training Department, nine students and one teacher with COVID-19 have been found in the province so far. There are 4 F1 (close contacts of positive cases) and 21 F2 (contacts of close contacts) teachers, 6 F1 and 35 F2 students.

Tam said the provincial people’s committee will decide when students can return to school.

“We are working with the healthcare department and district authorities to get information about the situation in localities, to give advice to the provincial people’s committee about the time for school reopening,” Tam said.

He added that the education department has sent a dispatch to district education sub-departments asking for lists of students for vaccinations.

“The education department will give advice to the provincial people’s committee about which education level should be vaccinated, but only after receiving opinions from localities,” he said.

In An Giang, students are still studying online and via TV. Tran Thi Ngoc Diem, Director of An Giang Education and Training Department, said her department is preparing the list of students for vaccinations.

Meanwhile, in HCM City, vaccinations were given to more than 1,000 first students on October 27 in Cu Chi district.

The return to school will be considered thoroughly. The HCM City Education and Training Department has proposed that in-person classes be organized in areas at Levels 1 and 2 of risk (low- and medium-risk areas), and no education activities held outside schools.

In areas at Level 3 of risk, in-person classes in combination with online and TV classes will be organized.

Nine districts in HCM City are at Level 1 (new normal), 12 districts at Level 2 and 1 district at Level 3. The green zones (Level 1) include Thu Duc City, districts Go Vap, Tan Binh, 1, 7, 8, 10, Can Gio and Cu Chi.

The yellow zones (Level 2) include districts 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, Phu Nhuan, Binh Thanh, Tan Phu, Hoc Mon, Nha Be and Binh Chanh. Binh Tan is the only district in an orange zone (level 3).

Preparation

Ca Mau Education and Training Department has allowed 7,813 students and 500 teachers at 18 schools in districts Dam Doi and Thoi Binh to return to school since October 25.

The department has prepared four scenarios for four levels of the pandemic.

Not all schools in Level 1 areas have resumed in-person classes. Only schools which are really safe can do this. The schools in Ca Mau City still have not resumed in-person classes.

In Quang Binh province, some schools have welcomed students back following MOET’s (Ministry of Education and Training) proposal that areas at Levels 1 and 2 can organize in-person classes.

According to the provincial education department, these schools have submitted plans on receiving students, and the healthcare department has agreed to allow students to return to school.

Tuan said the department has prepared a list of students to get vaccinations with information about their health conditions. The department has collected opinions from parents about the issue.

He said reopening will depend on the levels of pandemic risk in the areas as suggested by MOET, opinions from local healthcare sub-departments, and plans of schools.

Binh Dinh Education Department has released a document guiding the organization of teaching, commencing October 20. They will follow the principle of ‘safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of Covid-19’. Four scenarios have been designed, corresponding to four levels of pandemic risks.

According to the provincial Education and Training Department Dao Duc Tuan, the number of online teaching periods should not be too high and should be theoretical lessons only.

The department has listed the number of high school students to be vaccinated, put under its management. As for secondary school students (12-15 years old), the information will be managed by the localities where the schools are located.

As for Hanoi, the city’s healthcare department has made a list of 680,000-840,000 children aged 12-17, eligible to receive Covid-19 vaccine shots.
