Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc presided over the monthly cabinet meeting on Tuesday morning.

At the meeting, he praised many agencies, units and localities that have been highly responsible in epidemic prevention and control; especially the health sector, and the epidemic-hit areas of Hai Duong, Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh.

He said that besides stamping out the Covid-19 epidemic, economic development must be also a focus. To accomplish this dual goal, the country must focus on implementing four key tasks.

First, focus on implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Second, drastically prevent, combat and stamp out Covid-19 epidemic in the spirit of not being subjective, of being timely, and going ahead of the epidemic; at the same time, to fulfill dual goals.

He requested that relevant agencies take a range of urgent and drastic measures aimed at ensuring the supply of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines for citizens during the first quarter of the year.

Third, focus on promoting economic growth in the first six months of 2021. He requested the promotion of “three new economic spaces”: the domestic economy with a market of nearly 100 million people, the international economy with a number of free trade agreements signed, and the digital economy.

Fourth, continue to strongly reform administrative procedures, attract investment, and strive to make Vietnam become the leading high-tech manufacturing country in the region and the world.

He instructed related ministries, branches and forces to control the border well, prevent illegal entry and counterfeit goods, and control the possession and use of firecrackers during the lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.
