Addressing the event, MOLISA Deputy Minister Le Tan Dung stressed that Japan is one of Vietnam’s four key markets for sending its workers for employment abroad. Vietnamese trainees can earn an average monthly salary of US$1,200, which makes Japan an even more attractive for them, he added.

He reported that more than 68,000 Vietnamese trainees were sent to work in Japan in 2018, increasing the total number of Vietnamese technical intern trainees in Japan to over 160,000.

Vietnam has sent technical intern trainers to Japan since 1992 under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between MOLISA’s Department of Overseas Labour (DOLAB) and JITCO.

He called on JITCO to share information with DOLAB and Vietnamese agencies and organisations authorised for sending or receiving workers to work in Japan.

For his part, JITCO President Hiroyuki Yagi hailed the development and fruitful achievements gained by the Vietnam - Japan cooperation over the past 27 years, and expressed his pleasure that Vietnamese interns account for 50% of the total for foreign interns working in Japan in 2019.

Vietnam, Japan strengthen mutual defense cooperation

Deputy Minister of National Defense, Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh and Japan's Vice Minister of Defense for International Affairs Nishida Yasunori co-chaired the event.

The two sides evaluated the results of Vietnam-Japan defense cooperation since the sixth dialogue session in July, 2018 so far and the direction of international cooperation within bilateral and multilateral frameworks in the next years, aiming to bring the two countries’ in-depth and effective defense cooperation

On the same day, Nishida Yasunori led a delegation of Japan's Ministry of Defense to meet Politburo member, Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich.

At the receipt, the Vietnamese senior leader hoped that both sides would continue to effectively develop mechanisms of the defense policy dialogue and existing cooperation, to study building and supplement of new cooperation mechanisms which would contribute to promote effectively agreements between the two countries’ leaders, defense ministries.

Through the dialogue, the two countries’ two militaries are expected to develop continuously their cooperation in a depth and effective manner.
