Several supermarkets have said no to plastic bags

All state agencies must not use plastic bags, disposable plastic products and prevent using other plastic products starting from November.

It is hoped that the plan will change the habit of using plastic products at offices and at homes.

The authorities will boost plastic waste collecting activities and limit manufacturers from producing plastic packaging from December 31, 2020.

In order to realise the set goals, locality authorities must strengthen promotion to raise public awareness. This will be a key task to control plastic pollution.

Hanoi People's Committee already announced that it will start cutting down the use of disposable plastic products at meetings and conferences starting from September 1.

Hanoi authorities also want to start a movement to encourage each state employees and their families to say no to disposable plastic bags.

Organisations and businesses were asked to work together with the authorities to reduce the use of plastic products and let customers bring their own shopping bags.

Hanoi People's Committee will research and propose solutions to replace out-dated packaging technologies and plan to encourage businesses to make environmentally-friendly packaging.

Citizens will be asked to classify waste at home so that the authorities can collect and recycle plastic waste more efficiently. Dtinews
