The fire causes a loss of around VND150 billion for Rang Dong Light Source & Vacuum Flask JSC

On August 28, the 6,000-square metre company headquartered in Hanoi’s Thanh Xuan District was devastated by a five-hour blaze, leading to losses of around VND150 billion (USD6.4 million).

The fire stirred environmental pollution concerns as a vast number of burnt light bulbs released potentially dangerous chemicals.

Tran Trung Tuong, deputy general director of the company, said despite not named in the list of enterprises scheduled for being relocated out of Hanoi’s inner-city areas before 2020, the firm had planned to relocate its headquarters to Que Vo District in Bac Ninh Province where its second factory is located in, even before the fire.

Rang Dong’s land plot Que Vo Industrial Park covers a total area of 8.2 hectares.

Tuong added that the company had hired a business to design its new facilities in Bac Ninh. The relocation of the headquarters was discussed at Rang Dong’s shareholders' meeting in May.
