Bac Giang has 55 out of 80 more cases detected in four localities nationwide as announced by the Ministry of Health on May 26 morning. All new cases in Bac Giang were recorded at its industrial parks and in lockdown areas.
Several hours later, the Ministry announced in its 12.00am COVID-19 update that an additional 40 Vietnamese had tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus during the past six hours, including up to 27 cases in Bac Giang’s industrial parks.
Bac Giang is the hardest hit locality, with its tally reaching nearly 1,500 cases since the virus reocurred in late April. The Health Ministry has dispatched a contingent of experienced doctors from Da Nang, Hai Duong and Vinh Phuc to assist the province with contact tracing, extensive testing and treatment.
As the daily caseload has hit the hundreds, the Ministry decided to carry out a quick antigen testing campaign in Bac Giang, starting from May 26 in Viet Yen district, in an attempt to halt the spread of the virus.
