Traffic jams in Hanoi

According to Director of the Hanoi Department of Transport Vu Van Vien, the agency will co-operate with the municipal police to arrange hundreds of students of police training schools for 92 spots in different districts which may face traffic congestion towards the year-end.

Construction works are urged to be finished early. Meanwhile, works which need to be carried out for a long time have to be halted before January 15, 2020. The city Department of Transport has also suspended street digging from now until the end of the Tet Holiday.

Transport companies will provide more buses and coaches to meet higher demand.

Coaches and trucks will be banned from inner-city roads to reduce traffic jams. The department will propose municipal authorities to hold Tet flower markets at gateway areas, instead of city centres as in previous years.

Taskforces will be assigned to Giap Bat, My Dinh, Yen Nghia, Gia Lam and Son Tay bus stations to help instruct passengers and deal with violations.

Inspections will be tightened over operation of taxis services, including app-based ones.
