Luu Hong Tuyen, head of District 6 Department of Education and Training said that nearly 4,000 students from four local primary schools including Vo Van Tan, Nguyen Hue, Le Van Tam and Binh Tien have returned to school.

The department requested the schools to sterilise their campuses and carry out temperature check on students.

Dang Thi Thuy Ai, headmaster of Tran Quang Khai High School in District 11, reported that 2,000 students of the school have resumed their study.

Meanwhile, more than 30,000 students from HCM City's Hutech University have also been allowed to return from today, but are required to strictly conform to Covid-19 prevention such as using hand wash and being given temperature checks.

The schools have to report any signs of Covid-19 such as fever and coughs to local health authorities for medical check-ups.

However, some other universities in HCM City like Nguyen Tat Thanh University, HCM City Economics University and HCM City Banking University have continued using online learning to ensure safety.

Earlier, more than 100,000 university students were ordered to stay at home.

The decision was made after several students came in contact with a teacher of English who was confirmed as Patient 1347. The teacher became infected after contacting with a friend, a Vietnam Airlines flight attendant, Patient 1342, who violated quarantine regulations during his home quarantine period.

Patient 1347 then transmitted the virus to two others in the city.

However, thanks to drastic disease prevention measures, no more new domestic Covid-19 infections have been detected in the city since December 2. Dtinews/VietNamNet

Schools postpone exams, switch to online study after new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases

A number of universities and high schools in HCM City have switched to online learning and taken other preventive measures following the recently reported locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 in the city.
