On October 4, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City sent a document to the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV), showing its agreement with the CAAV’s draft plan to operate regular domestic air routes during the time of Covid-19 epidemic.
For the Ho Chi Minh City - Hanoi air route, HCM City proposed a number of round-trip flights this week to partially solve the urgent travel needs between the southern key economic region and Hanoi as well as northern provinces.
According to CAAV’s draft plan, HCM City will have 132 round-trip flights on 18 routes to other localities, including 20 flights to Khanh Hoa; 2 flights to Dien Bien; 7 flights to Phu Yen; and 11 flights to Binh Dinh.
In addition to HCM City, the provinces of Binh Dinh, Gia Lai, Dien Bien, Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen also agreed to the CAAV’s draft plan.
The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai did not agree to re-open air route to and from this province from October 5. After October 15, based on the epidemic situation, Gia Lai will propose resuming flights again.
Previously, the northern port city of Hai Phong did not agree with the CAAV’s plan.
The CCAV has sought opinions of 19 cities and provinces on the plan, comprising Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Can Tho, Quang Ninh, Nghe An, Dien Bien, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Lam Dong, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang and Ca Mau.
