Vo Thi Ngoc Thuy, deputy director of the municipal Department of Tourism, told VnExpress on February 7 that these Asiana Airlines passengers must be quarantined as they have traveled through a coronavirus-hit area in China.

The Department of Tourism is collaborating with the Immigration Department of the HCMC Police to get information on their itineraries and find the hotels or lodging facilities they have booked. Thuy was uncertain whether they were staying at hotels or with relatives.

On finding them, the Department of Tourism will report to the HCMC government and cooperate with the relevant departments and agencies to complete isolation measures for 14 days in line with the Ministry of Health’s directives.

The action was initiated after the release of the Ministry of Health’s urgent notice on February 6. Under the notice, the ministry demanded the 67 passengers be checked.

The ministry told the municipal government to direct police, health, culture, sports and tourism agencies to isolate them where they are staying and to monitor them closely. SGT
