The municipal Party Committee of Hanoi has issued Dispatch No.112-CV/TU ordering local authorities and residents to ramp up efforts to combat Covid-19. Also, the capital city will suspend festivals and pedestrian streets and restrict non-essential events and large gatherings. In case an event needs to be held, it must strictly follow Covid-19 safety protocols.
Besides this, the local competent forces were told to tighten control measures to promptly detect and tackle people entering the city illegally, people returning from virus-hit regions but not making health declarations and those violating Covid-19 regulations. The forces also have to update and complete Covid-19 response scenarios.
Further, the capital city mandated that people must wear face masks in public places, at events and on means of public transport.
The two north-central provinces of Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh on April 27, made a similar move to ensure safety amid fears of another resurgence of the disease.
The provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board of Thanh Hoa ordered the suspension of the opening ceremony of the Hai Tien beach festival in Hoang Hoa District, which was originally scheduled for May 1, the Hai Hoa beach festival in Nghi Son Town, which was set to kick off on April 30, and an event to announce the establishment of the Nghi Son Commune as well as other non-essential mass gatherings in the province starting from today until further notice.
Similarly, the north-central province of Nghe An also postponed its 2021 Cua Lo beach festival.
Regarding Quang Ninh Province, the provincial steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control decided to cancel fireworks shows on the upcoming Reunification Day on April 30 and International Labor Day on May 1 and to suspend all festivals, religious and sports events starting from April 30 to May 23. After that, the northern province will decide whether to hold festivals or not, based on the Covid-19 situation.
