The information was released by Deputy Director of HCM City Department of Health Nguyen Huu Hung at a press conference on August 28 afternoon.
According to the HCM City Center for Disease Control (HCDC), the number of cases being isolated, monitored and treated at home is more than 74,425 people, of which 47,920 cases are isolated at home from the beginning and 26,505 cases under home quarantine after being discharged from hospitals. The number of cases being isolated, monitored and treated in concentrated isolation facilities is 16,962 people.
Dr Nguyen Huu Hung said that in recent days, the city has focused on testing to quickly find positive cases, so the number of people positive for nCoV has increased, but it is within the forecast and not excessive.
The city has established rapid response teams and more than 400 mobile medical stations in wards and communes besides distributing medicine bags to people. On August 27, the Department of Health allocated 16,000 doses of antiretroviral drugs to health centers in districts and Thu Duc City to distribute to Covid-19 patients with mild symptoms.
Among the three treatment levels, the first is the most important. If the cases are well taken care of, the number of severe cases, fatalities and the pressure on the rest will be minimized, doctor Hung said.
He said that, of the three treatment levels, the number of deaths at the second level is the highest. The Department of Health has asked hospitals treating at this level to evaluate their expertise in treatment.
