Thua Thien-Hue People's Committee Chairman Phan Ngoc Tho signed the decision to ask Hue Monuments Conservation Centre to waive the entrance fees to tourist sites on Vietnamese Women's Day and founding day of Vietnam Women’s Union on October 20.
International and local female visitors who wear ao dai on October 20 can enter tourists sites free of charge.
This is part of the project to boost the images of Hue City and to encourage women to wear ao dais more often.
On the International Women's Day on March 8, Thua Thien-Hue Province also waived the entrance fees to female visitors who wore ao dai from March 7 to 9.
The programme proved to be a success and was welcomed by many local people and tourists.
Tho said he wanted to highlight ao dais as a cultural symbol of Vietnam. Dtinews
