According to the statistics of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, Vietnam is home to 92 lighthouses situated on islands under the nations’ territory.  

 
1. Co To Lighthouse

Co To Lighthouse, which is located on Co To Island in the northern province of Quang Ninh, is dubbed as the “rooftop” of the island. Climbing up 72 stairs to the top of the lighthouse, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the whole island with blue sea and sky as far as their eyes can see. 

2. Ly Son Lighthouse

Ly Son Lighthouse is located on the east coast of Ly Son Island, the central province of Quang Ngai. The 45-meter-tall tower makes the lighthouse the second highest lighthouse in Vietnam. From the top of the tower, visitors can view the entire island, including its garlic fields. 

3. Dai Lanh Lighthouse

Dai Lanh Lighthouse in Dai Lanh Cape, the central province of Phu Yen, was built in 1890 and sits on an altitude of 110m above the sea level. The lighthouse can be visible from a distance of 27 nautical miles. 

4. Ganh Den Lighthouse

Ganh Den Lighthouse is also built in Phu Yen Province. It is located on the rocky shore with an unprecedented magnificent red rock area, dense stones and stretches on the coast, about 500m in many different shapes.

The lighthouse has a height of 10m, 22m from the sea level and has a lighting range of 17 knots. The Ganh Den Lighthouse is a type of lighthouse at the sea gate, help fishing boats operating in Phu Yen sea to safely get access to Xuan Dai and Vung Chao Bay. 

5. Song Tu Tay Lighthouse

Song Tu Tay Lighthouse is the first among the nine lighthouses built in Truong Sa archipelago (Spratly Islands). It symbolizes the resilience of the Vietnamese people in protecting territorial sovereignty at seas and plays a crucial role in ensuring safety of navigation in the region. 

The lighthouse was built in 1993, with a height of about 36m. 

6. Da Lat Lighthouse

Situated to the south of Truong Sa archipelago and built in 1994, Da Lat Reef’s lighthouse is 42 meters high. It is located at one of the most crucial locations in the archipelago. The lighthouse is built on Da Lat Island, an offshore island and on the coral reef so only few people can travel. 

7. Ke Ga Lighthouse

Ke Ga Lighthouse

Located at Ke Ga Cape in the central province of Binh Thuan, the lighthouse of the same name is a famous tourist destination.

Ke Ga Lighthouse was built in 1897 and it took one year to complete this work. This is the oldest lighthouse in Southeast Asia. It is also the highest lighthouse in Vietnam (65m) with nearly 200 steps.

Like many other lighthouses, it is used to help captains navigate during the night. The lamp in the tower can illuminate for nearly 40 km.  

8. Vung Tau Lighthouse

Vung Tau old lighthouse is a few remaining lighthouse ranked among the oldest in Vietnam and South East Asia in the city built by the French in 1862 to signal and guide ships passing through Vung Tau beaches.

It’s about 170m high, the lighthouse has a circular tower, 18m high, covered with a delicate white paint, prominent on the blue sky. 

9. Hon Khoai Lighthouse

Hon Khoai is a cluster of islands located 20 kilometers off the south-west of Nam Can, in the province of Ca Mau.

Established by French colonists at the end of the 19th century, the lighthouse lies in the highest peak of the island at a height of 318 meters. 

10. Ninh Cau Lighthouse

The lighthouse is situated on Phu Quoc Island in the southern province of Kien Giang, having stairs to reach its top. 

From the top of the lighthouse, visitors can be able to indulge into the magnificent scene of sunrise and sunset in the island.
